High Hopes

Ania went off to school today. Preschool at the local school. We're excited for her and hopeful that this new environment will help her leaps and bounds with her speech progress. We've had our eyes on her for a long time, knowing that she was/is behind in her talking... watching and doing what we could to help her and hoping she might catch up. Things that the other kids just picked up, she wasn't just picking up. She continued to progress, daily impressing us with new words and phrases ... but not enough to get caught up. Two weeks ago we took her for a speech assessment to the local school district. It was a kindness from the Lord that the speech therapist was an old friend that I hadn't seen in 20 years. Yesterday we met with her and the preschool director to go over the results of her assessment. I was impressed with how accurate the results were, very much lining up with what we see and hear daily. We were ready before we went to enroll her in the special need preschool if she qualified for that help. So, in true fashion, we jumped in with both feet. She will go 4 days each week for 3 hours each time. There are 9 other kids in her class and 3 to 4 teachers. She will get lots of one on one help, even from the speech specialist. Her teachers were so kind and sweet and excited to help her. The class room was amazing, full of kitchen areas, book nooks, and play stations. Ani was entranced. I can't wait to go pick her up.

I bought her a new outfit. Cuteness!

Well Ania, you look adorable in your new school dress! I hope you had a really fun time at school. Call me some day and tell me about the kids and toys there.

Do you have snack at school?

What is your favorite play station?

Do you hang your coat on a hook?

There are so many new and fun things at school!

You look so big in the picture on the blog. Maybe because you are so big now?!

Great. She comes home so happy! She seems to like it. She had a snow day yesterday and didn't go. She was a little sad for me to leave her this morning. Sniff.
