Settling In

So, we're pretty much moved. There are just a few scattered piles of boxes left. You know, the worst ones to unpack. The ones where your son would actually be doing you a favor if he threw them away when you weren't looking (as he has occassionally been known to do with girl stuff or toddler things that he just can't imagine people actually want.)

The open house at the old house on Sunday produced a heap of interested people. We're just waiting for interest to transform into cash.

Kaisha's been cleaning her new coffee shop! Super excitement and a ton of work all rolled into one. She had 48 applicants in just a few hours from her ad online. She is interviewing her first girl tomorrow. I can't believe this opportunity that the Lord just laid in her lap!

Alissa is at her first all-boy birthday party. Well, all boys except for her. I guess that's what happens when one of your best friends is a boy. Anticipation is also building for this weekend's swim meet here in town. Go, Blackfish!

Today Ania said, "When you're finished can I do typing?" Perfectly amazing. Perhaps her longest sentence ever. She is getting truckloads of speech help at her new preschool. This new district has more resources than her last one. She is with a speech therapist ALL day when she is there. On Friday they asked if they could check her for color blindness. I'm so happy that other people are helping us help her.
We've been getting back to Mia's homeschooling. Christmas break morphed into Moving break. I started her in Geometry workbooks on top of her regular math. I'm looking for ways to broaden her curriculum. It's all just so easy for her, so instead of going faster (why learn adverbs and objects of the prepositions when you're seven? The world is far more exciting than that!), we're looking to go wider. Any suggestions? She also started a PE class that she is loving. Today she was asking for Greek and Latin roots. Where did I put those flash cards?

Collin. Well, he comes home from school with stories. Like the other day I got this text from him saying that he was walking across campus with a friend and they were stopped by these five girls that were doing a survey. The only question was: what do you like better, boobs or butts? So, keeping that in mind, a day or two later he was walking across campus and a girl was sitting there with her boyfriend and she says to Collin, "Will you be my friend?" Without missing a beat he says, "No" and keeps on walking. Collin is the coolest 17 year old son ever. I can't tell you how much I adore that boy.

Ok. So, I do these general updates on my people from time to time and I usually say very little about me. Just to assure you (not that anyone actually notices or cares) I do have a life. Well, usually. But it seems so conceited to write a paragraph about how totally cool I am or what amazing things I've been doing. But trust me. I do amazing things and I AM totally cool.

I've always thought you were cool, Kristine. And why blog about yourself when you have such brilliant and charming children?

True, Kaish. But your best friends were all GIRLS. Well, but ... yea, we probably wouldn't have let you go anyway back then. :o) It's a tough load being the first child.
