Home Meet! Go, Alissa!

Last weekend Alissa swam 9 events in a two day meet at the aquatic center. Because it was local, friends and family were able to come and watch her swim. She swam in her first butterfly race and also her first individual medely; a race where you swim each of the four strokes in a certain order. She got first in her division in the 50 free, earning a silver time. She also bronzed in both the 100 free and the 100 breast. All of this while still doing wall turns instead of flip turns, which are much faster. We're hoping to get her a couple private lessons soon so that she can learn to do the flip turns.Alissa (on the right) and her friend, Taryn. They cheer each other on. Sometimes they swim in the same heat. Alissa is getting to know the other girls on the team too. She and Taryn were both picked to swim 100 freestyle in a 400 team relay. They did a great job!

Ania sat and clapped and shouted, "Go, Da-da! Go, Da-da!" ... even when Alissa wasn't swimming.

It was alot of fun. Breast and Fly don't have flipturns. With those strokes you do an open turn. At this swim meet I did open turns for free and back. I f there is a meet outside I hope it's on a hot day in the summer!!! Iloveswimming! ~lissy
