Go Big Team!

Note the sweatshirt. These pictures represent quite a lot.

First of all, it's our family's first adventure into the world of team sports (technically it's mostly individual ... but team practices, rules, big group of kids etc.). We've tended toward the biking, running type of sports over T-ball and soccer.

Next, it's a huge deal for Alissa. Poor middle child. For years she has asked to do sports. "Mom, could I do soccer?" "Could I take swimming lessons." For a few years the standard answer was, "No, I'm sorry, we don't have the money for that ... we're adopting." Then for a few more years it was, "No, I don't have the time for that ... with the little girls."

Now the time and money have converged into this happy involvement. And we celebrated the whole thing by getting the team sweatshirt for Alissa. (They have team towels, suits, caps, jackets, bags, etc). She swims in her first meet in two days. She chose three events; one of them being the 200 meter breast stroke! You go, girl! This week in practice she has learned the butterfly stroke, practiced flip turns and also learned how to start from the block. She's working so hard. We're proud of you, Lissy!
